10 Months

This summer I'm continually learning how to make the most of this active season while also being sensitive to Lizah's needs. Some days I have to weigh the need to get out and do something with the need to have Lizah take a good nap in her crib. I'm learning that it takes a lot of mental energy to get out and do something with a kid in tow but it's usually worth that effort for the memories we can make. First time mom struggles, right? Like, I'll learn this once and for all with Lizah and have it all figure out for the next kid...somebody please say so ;)

At ten months, Lizah is crawling all over, pulling herself up on objects (sometimes other children) and walking along/between furniture. She loves corn on the cob and other fresh summer produce like berries, peaches, and tomatoes. We've started working on self-soothing for naps and bedtime again and overall she's getting it. She's turning out to be a great traveler with a 7 hour road trip to Nebraska (blog post coming) and other shorter car rides. Swimming, animals, kids, swinging, and "Little Blue Truck" are some of her favorite things.

Titus was kind enough Lizah to take a little ride in Grandpa and Grandma's car. This was the weekend Seth's parents moved and the car was one thing the previous owners left behind. Amazingly it actually still works.

One Sunday we had no plans after church so we went to the splash pad in Champaign and then visited the petting zoo. Lizah wasn't sure about the cold water at first but then she had a lot of fun!

The kind of pictures we like to send to daddy at work.

One evening our little fam went up to Fairbury to pick sweet corn for me to do with mom the next day. Lizah didn't love that I was disappearing in to the corn patch so I took her to visit the calves while Seth and his cousin picked corn. She could hardly handle it and was letting the cow lick her hands and toes. Then, one day she was sitting on her changing table when suddenly she started doing her excited laugh-cry. She had spotted the calf hanging above her crib and was seriously so excited I had a hard time getting her down for a nap. It still brings a smile to her face when we say "cow" and she knows where to find it on the wall. Watching her make that connection was a highlight of my week.

After doing corn at Mom's, we left with Seth for Ohio where we camped inside a shed with the Zehr cousins. It was the weekend of the Leo sale so that's where we spent most of the day Saturday. Lizah hardly napped that day except for when she went on a walk and completely crashed. We went back to my parents' Sunday after church and then Seth left early Monday morning while Lizah and I stayed to play with Calvin and Addie until that afternoon when we went home after a very. big. weekend.

Part of library bingo was to invite a friend to the library and Grey asked if Lizah would be his friend. She ate puzzles and had a great time.

Picnics with dad are our favorite! Gotta soak up these summer days!

This Saturday we leave for our big West Coast trip! If anybody has tips on how to keep a baby entertained on the plane send them my way :)
