6 Months
I better hurry and get Lizah's six month post up before she turns seven months in three days. I'd apologize again for not blogging but I'm actually not that sorry for spending hours outdoors and enjoying this beautiful spring!
Between five and six months, Lizah had some big milestones: started eating cereal, learned to sit by herself, became a snuggler, and went down the slide at the park! Before she learned to sit up I could tell she was feeling discontent or frustrated when she played on the floor. The bouncer came in very handy and she gave those legs a workout!
We went through a rough patch with sleep, her getting up to eat about every three hours. She also was rolling in her swaddle and getting free some nights which didn't seem very safe. If I didn't swaddle her she would have a hard time with twitching, or sometimes I think it was a symptom she had from very early on that is classified as a "benign seizure" meaning that it's not an epileptic seizure but more than a little twitch. Don't mean to get bogged down in details, the point is that some nights it was really hard to know what to do for bedtime. In the end, I pretty much decided to swaddle her and nurse her through the night until she turned six months.
It's fun understanding more of her personality or seeing patterns to things. For example, when she started smiling it took her a while to give away smiles to people she was less familiar with. And the same happened with laughing. It took a lot for Seth or I to get a giggle. But she's starting to laugh more freely at other people. She still gets very serious in new settings with new faces and tends to smile the quickest at babies or kids, but after a bit to warm up she does alright.
Before I share pictures I'll explain that her tongue is hanging out in some of them because one day I fed her some homemade unsweetened applesauce that must've been too tart. She kept eating it but she kept sticking out her tongue for the next few days! Gave us all a good chuckle.
