3 Weeks

It’s hard to believe it’s already the first of November but it’s even harder to believe my baby is 3 weeks old! I’m still learning to cherish these newborn days because I’m really looking forward to interacting with Lizah and experiencing more of a two-way relationship. But there are certainly moments when I look at her and see how much she has already grown; I know that these precious days will be over all too soon.
Lizah is becoming quite the good eater, as is evident by her double chin and the creases on her thighs. She’s becoming more fussy, especially when she’s falling asleep, but I still consider her a “good baby” as she still has awake moments where she’s content to just lie there and look at the lights (sometimes I wonder how she isn’t bored out of her mind!). Our nighttime routine isn’t really a routine and I never know going to bed how often she’ll be up, but it is mostly predictable that she’ll take a long afternoon snooze so some days I sneak a nap in with her.
We’ve had a lot of visitors, which has been wonderful. My mom was here for almost a week after Lizah was born. Not only did she help with Lizah, she also cooked meals, cleaned my house, and made all our applesauce for the following year. There were lots of firsts that week: first doctor appointment and first bath at home. It was good to have an experienced hand around.
Other visitors have included aunts, uncles, cousins, great-grandparents even (gotta love the four-generation photo in the top right corner of the collage below). And this past week my cousin Leah came. When people come, they don’t just hold the baby. They pack our freezer and fridge with food, they fill Lizah’s closet with darling outfits, and they do it all without making comments about how messy my house is. But please, know that it’s also okay to just come and hold the baby.
Last Thursday we took our first long drive to Indiana. The carseat is hit or miss and with this trip she did great overall. It’s fun watching Lizah’s cousins interact with her, they’re so adoring and gentle. I hope they continue loving each other this much as they grow up! That evening my cousin Suzy, who happens to be married to Seth’s cousin Ben, and her two little boys were on a road trip and stayed the night at Dad and Mom’s so it was fun to all be together.
This past weekend brought on some other big outings. Saturday Seth was in a friend’s wedding which made for a big day but it all went well and it’s nice to have such a big “event” under our belts. The next day was our first Sunday to church. We were actually on time, likely because we had breakfast at Seth’s parents that morning.

We spend lots of time at home hanging out but still make it out for errands or walks in the sunshine.
We love her, that’s for sure!
