Growing

It’s amazing how easily blogging can get put on the back burner. As much as I want to document life, sometimes we’re too busy living it. I think the best way to tackle the past few months is to take one topic at a time. And since I don’t really have the patience to download pictures on our slow internet at the moment I’ll go with the topic that I don’t have many pictures of…the baby.
Besides ultrasound pics, there isn’t much to show for the miracle happening except a growing belly and if you’d like to see that then we can meet for coffee sometime.
It’s been a really really good pregnancy. Certainly there have been discomforts along the way and I continue to feel the effects of hormones changing and such, but with all the horror pregnancy stories out there I have to admit that I’ve been spoiled.
Last week my mom brought my horse out (post about that coming sometime, no promises it will be soon) and as it happened to be the same day as my ultrasound she was able to go along with Seth and I. If I’d been getting an ultrasound 15 years ago I’m not sure I would’ve been too interested. BUT the ultrasounds these days are amazing and I could clearly distinguish fingers, a nose, the spine, and much more. Our ultrasound tech said the baby was very cooperative and she was really good about pointing out what we were seeing, which was very helpful in making out the heart and kidneys. I left more in love with the baby than before and each week as we hit new milestones–like weighing a whole pound!–it becomes more and more real that somehow there is a human growing inside me.
Lots of people are asking if we found out/will find out the gender and it currently is in an unopened envelope. While I’m enjoying the suspense right now,  Seth and I do plan to find out; however, we won’t be sharing. Sorry!
A very wonderful part about this journey has been the fact that we’re not doing it alone. I’ve received so many hand-me-down maternity clothes that I doubt I’ll have to buy anything. Even my sister, who is expecting her own baby in December, generously loaned me a bag of stuff. It’s really exciting to know that our baby will have a cousin so close in age on the Lehman side and I had never really thought about being pregnant at the same time as my sister but it’s so fun!
Baby is kicking as I type and I’m thankful for the level of activity I can feel at this point. We are excited to meet this child, but there’s also a lot to do between now and then so it’s a great time of waiting and praying and growing so much in love.
