These Summer Days
Where has August gone? Kids are back in school, Labor Day weekend will be past in a blink, and the corn is starting to turn brown in some places. Craziness.
August has proven to be busy and last week I realized how fast the pressures of comings and goings sneak in. At the beginning of the summer we were able to take it easy and go picnicking and fishing and have many free evenings to just enjoy life. I don’t expect that to last forever and it’s okay that our schedules are fuller, but I find myself fighting to keep life simple. It’s amazing how satisfying a dinner by the river and walk through the woods with my man is.

A few weeks ago we found out that Hannah was in the hospital because her water broke at 32 weeks. God has been good and answered many prayers and we were excited to go meet Elijah Lee this past Sunday (sorry, no pics. But there will be some soon!) Ivory and Titus came to stay with Dad and Mom W. for a few days and it was fun to hang out with them a few times. I know the Herrmann family appreciates prayers as there are many adjustments happening. We’re so thankful for how God hasprovided!
Another thing I’ve been thankful for this summer is the amount of times I’ve been able to go to my parent’s just for a day. Whether it’s corn day, an ortho appointment, or, as was the case last Friday, a party for Seth’s cousin, it’s good to be home for a few hours to catch up with family and ride my pony.
Several times this summer I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer at a therapeutic riding stables which is great because it reminds me of why I went to college for Equine Management. I plan to do a post with more about that in the future.
Heading in to fall I’m excited for a little mix-up in the norm as I recently got a job at Curtis Orchard where I’ll primarily be working in the bakery. Last Saturday morning I went in for training and got to help make over a hundred dozen donuts! There’s a certain freshness about working in a seasonal business because you only have a few months to make the experience great and I’m excited to be a part of the team for this year.
So, if you get a craving for an apple donut this fall you can come visit me and we’ll make it happen.
